Our Home Waters

The Potomac Valley Fly Fishers’ home waters are located within Catoctin Creek Park and Nature Center, Middletown, Maryland. In addition to Catoctin Creek, there are many other great places to fish around Frederick and throughout Maryland. Visit the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Fisheries website next time you are looking for a place to fish, type of fish available, and what to use to catch the fish.

Our History

Potomac Valley Fly Fishers club (PVFF) members promote fly fishing, preservation, and wise use of our resources. Our club provides advice and assistance on fly fishing techniques, fly tying, and fly casting. We also maintain a liaison with other regional organizations of sportsmen and conservationists.

Our club was organized in 1967 under the auspices of the national Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF), Bozeman, Montana. In 1968, in cooperation with the Fontanilis Fly Fishers of New York, PVFF founded the Eastern Council of the FFF. More recently, the club was incorporated into the Mid-Atlantic Council of Fly Fishers International. In 2003, the club was incorporated as a non-profit organization.
