Beginner Fly Tying - Griffith’s Gnat & Flashback PT Nymph

By Don Fine

As I write this, cold weather is upon us, with a forecast for several feet of snow. A very difficult time to find a stream that’s not ice covered. Which makes it a perfect time to tie some winter/spring freshwater flies. Such is the basis for my selection of the Griffith’s Gnat and Flashback Pheasant Tail Nymph for our February beginner fly tying class.

We look forward to having you join us on Tuesday, February 17, at 7 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, West Patrick St., Frederick. As always, we welcome fly fishers who have never tied an artificial fly to join our beginner fly tying classes. Materials for the fly pattern are provided to all who attend. Vises are available for newcomers to fly tying.

As in past months, Martyn and I deeply appreciate knowing how many will be attending our Beginner’s class, so that we can plan to have adequate quantities of instructional and tying materials on hand.

Please call Don Fine at 301-371-5617 or email at dfine1443@gmail.com, if you plan to attend. Knowing how many participants will be attending ensures that we have ample amounts of tying materials for each class. Also, let us know whether you require a vise and tools for the tying session that evening.
