Club Meeting: Annual Picnic/ Casting Clinic

Tuesday, June 10th, 4 p.m., food 6 p.m.

Catoctin Creek Nature Center

The annual picnic will be June 10 at Catoctin Creek Park and Nature Center (2929 Sumantown Rd, Middletown). Gather at 4 p.m. to participate in the fishing contest; this year we will be going back to our favorite “one fly contest.” You get one fly – can’t change it, can’t lose it.  The most fish caught (of any species) wins.

This year’s casting contest will be a series of challenges based on the FFI skills Development Program. Certified FFI instructors will coach and evaluate participants through each challenge. Learn to conquer the casting obstacles we commonly have in Maryland, and have a little fun in the process. Your gear or our loaner gear, take your pick. You can start the challenge any time between 5 and 6 p.m.

At 6 p.m., we gather for hamburgers, hot dogs, and (most of all) friendship. Burgers and dogs are furnished. Members are encouraged to bring chips and desserts, but you are also welcome to come empty handed. Partners, children, and friends all are welcome.

During the meal we will have the first annual liars’ contest.  Think of the best story you can tell about the big fish that got away.  You can even tell the truth, though it’s not required. Just make it a good story. Audience voting for the winner at the end.
