FFC Shad Night 2026: You are invited!
The Orvis Tysons Corner and Friends of Fletchers Cove (FFC) are partnering for the 2026 Shad Night to be held at the Orvis Tysons Corner store. This is a no-cost event and you do not need to register for the event. If you want to attend, please respond to Pete (Moss) D’Adamo at lcsmoss63@yahoo.com (240-772-7434) as there may be other people who want to carpool to Tysons and maybe help you carry the new toys purchased at the event 😊
Our own Dan Neuland will have a table at the event – if you have not met Dan, look for his table and stop by. Feel free to use the PVFF secret handshake and Dan will tell you the secrets of catching the big Shad!
Note from Dan Neuland - Consider joining me at the 2026 Shad Night gathering to be held in person for the first time since 2020! This event is the first step to exploring the opportunities to fly fish for shad, stripers and blue catfish at Fletcher's Cove, an incredible tidal fishery on the lower Potomac River, located only 43 miles from Frederick. The fishing can be epic using sinking lines from rentals boats at Fletcher's Boathouse or take advantage of the accessible kayak/canoe launch. Weather and water conditions pending, the shad run begins in March and runs through May, it’s not too early to start preparing by attending this event.
OVERVIEW: Similar format to previous NCC-TU Shad Nights. Event begins with a social hour: Meet up with fellow anglers; visit expert tables to learn more about American and hickory shad, Fletcher's Cove, area streams, fly tying, tackle and technique; buy snacks/drinks and raffle tickets; review silent auction trips. Meet FFC Board members; talk with Campo and sponsors about Family and Youth Initiatives. FFC announcements and the featured presentation follows. Program concludes with a shad fishing panel discussion.
