I really hope you can join us this year. It is always a fun evening. Great friends and fellowship, plenty of bucket and silent auction items, the Winston Rod & Reel raffle and much more! We already have some exciting items for you to bid on and win!
The banquet will be on October 28th, from
4 PM – 9 PM at the AMVETS in Middletown, Maryland. Did I mention birthday cake and ice cream?? What’s a birthday party without cake and ice cream!
To celebrate our big birthday, we will have a table that will display many historical items and photos from the club’s early years. Many of these items are on loan to us for the evening from Jim Gilford, our first club President.
As a reminder, all items in the bucket raffle and silent auction are donated by both members and friends of PVFF. This 50-year tradition has served us well and it is amazing what is donated every year. This year the list includes several fly rods, bake goods are promised (not delivered), selections of flies and the list goes on. We are repeating the “gummy worm bucket” with a chance to win a full day “guide trip for 2”. Another thing to consider is that we have items that are not fish related and many are tasty items. Bring your spouse or friend and see what he or she can find to win and take home.
Save the date and you can fill out the form and mail your check in to Ruby Fine at your earliest convenience. The cost is $25.00 per adult. This will help us get an idea of the number we need to accommodate for this party. The banquet is also open to family and friends and is a great place to bring someone interested in getting into fly fishing. As in the past years kids under 18 are free but be sure to put the names on your registration so we can have name tags made for them.
Banquet tickets will be available at the October meeting. Also, you can bring your donation items to the meeting.
Save the date…October 28th…and go fishing as often as you get the chance until then.
Win a PVFF Travel Rod!
One of the features of our 50th anniversary celebration will be the raffle of a PVFF Travel Rod. You say, what is a travel rod? A travel rod is a fly rod which gets to travel with and be used, by the lucky winner of the raffle, for a period of one year (i.e. October 2017- October 2018). Imagine being the winner of this raffle. You will take home a fully-equipped Scott 9 foot, 6 weight fly rod, along with an Okuma reel and fly line, which you can use for one year to be returned at the 2018 PVFF banquet. Then the travel rod will be again raffled off for another lucky winner to use for a year, and so on from year to year. And while it is not possible for the rod to tell of its travels from year to year, the travel rod will be accompanied by a travel diary which we anticipate each winner will use to note his/her experiences in using the travel rod on waters far and wide. Be the first to win the raffle and use the new PVFF Travel Rod.
