Roundtable Fly Tying Class: April 18, 2018

by Jon Thames

Ever fished a “Dirty Bird”?

I’ve said a lot of things about flies that didn’t work as I looked in my fly box and wondered what to go to next! I’ve never had a “dirty bird” in my collection but I will after the 18th of April.

Bob Abraham has been fishing this fly for about 50 years and Bob has used it all over this area as well as on trips out west. In case you noticed that “50 years,” Bob got the design from Abby Doyle, a Hagerstown Industrial Arts teacher, in 1947-48 for fishing Hunting Creek. I have to say anyone with Bob’s years of experience saying this is a great fly gets my attention.

Join us at 7:00 PM in room 109 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 703 West Patrick Street. As always, all materials will be supplied so bring your tying equipment and join me to learn the “Dirty Bird”. Loaner vices and equipment are available. New tiers are encouraged to attend the Roundtable.
